About Blue Ridge Log Cabins
America’s Best Value in Log Cabin Building
Founded in 1992, Blue Ridge Log Cabins is widely considered the most innovative company of its kind in America. Ranked by Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the nation two years running, Blue Ridge Log Cabins has created modular home-building practices for the upscale log cabin industry, reducing the cost, time, and risk normally associated with such construction thanks to its state-of-the-art, 110,000-square-foot production facility located in South Carolina. Capable of completing as many as 15 custom homes from 500- to 8,000-square-feet every week, Blue Ridge Log Cabins was featured as the “Most Economical Log Home” on HGTV’s “Best Ever Log Homes,” on the premiere episode of HGTV’s “Amazing Log Homes” series, and on ABC’s 2011 Season Premiere of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
Blue Ridge Log Cabins is America’s only solid log modular home builder. Hand stacked in a factory setting, Blue Ridge Log Cabins exceeds current building standards and virtually eliminates the effects of potentially damaging weather. By constructing these prefabricated sections (sometimes referred to as “Prefab” or even “prefabulous”) we can produce a more uniform product with a guaranteed quality. With up to 90-100% of the home built in a factory, Blue Ridge Log Cabins is able to accurately project the exact cost of your home, then complete your home without involving specialized, expensive and difficult to find builders and sub-trades in the construction process.
As the company evolved, the next logical step in the evolution of Blue Ridge Log Cabins became to design and build larger plans for both primary and second secondary homes. In this case, multiple sections are assembled to create a more spacious home, with some models approaching 5,000 square feet, constructed to systems-built specifications that meet or exceed all state code requirements. This incorporated a number of key advantages, including access to traditional financing sources as well as a home equal to (and often better than) site-built homes, in both quality and value. In many cases, Blue Ridge Log Cabins receives preferential treatment regarding financial terms compared to other log home builders or log kit package companies.
The future of Blue Ridge Log Cabins is one of continuing product enhancements and product offerings, such as the recently released Mountain Architecture series, coupled with customer satisfaction and comfort. Our Advantage
Why Blue Ridge Log Cabins? What makes us different?
Earl Taylor founded the world’s largest log home “kit” company in the late 70’s and he discovered first hand the frustrations customers experienced including a process that hindered their enthusiasm and stretched their budgets. He watched smiles turn to frowns when their finished home looked nothing like they had hoped. By the early 90’s, Taylor knew there had to be a better, more efficient way to construct log homes. He decided to change the process based on what customers really wanted to experience. Customer satisfaction is what differentiates Blue Ridge Log Cabins from other log home companies.
The best of both worlds.
Custom log cabins are made of natural materials and can take a year or more to build. “Do-it-yourself” kits are dropped on your site and you take care of the rest. Those were the only two options customers had, until we asked a fundamental question that has changed our industry: “What would it take to have the best of both worlds, keeping the beauty and character of natural wood homes but build faster and better than any kit on the market?”
So we put our team to work developing just that…and here we are today, designing and building dream homes with an extraordinary turnaround period, in our facility’s ideal temperatures and conditions under a team of watchful eyes to ensure that it’s built with excellence, and has our—and your—stamp of approval. From there, sometimes our one day process can deliver a beautiful log home to your land and have it up before the day is over. No waiting, no agonizing over delays, no scheduling problems with contractors. That’s our promise to you.
Standard-setting technical excellence.
We’ve made advances at setting the bar on quality and technical advances in our industry to deliver a dream home you can count on, not just for lifestyle and comfort, but for safety and financial advantages as well. Our logs contain less than 18% moisture content, as our team carefully selects and kiln dries each log. You’ll also find little-to-no settling since factory-produced components end up more energy efficient.
Solid wood structures perform between 20% – 30% more energy efficient than stick built structures as a result of “thermal mass.” Since your dream log cabin will be system-built and monitored in a controlled, state-of-the-art facility, our factory-trained craftsmen have the advantage of building your dream away from the perils of the weather and other job site elements, from logs to electrical, plumbing, light fixtures and even high quality GE Appliances. So, the installation process begins in the morning by setting the cabin on your foundation. Before we leave the site, your home is in the dry—the interior untouched by the elements—and ultimately, built better.

Success Acknowledgement
Inc. Magazine has recognized Blue Ridge Log Cabins as one of the fastest growing private companies in America. The national publication acknowledged the company, in 2008 and again in 2009, serving as a benchmark for being one of the most innovative, dynamic and successful companies in the nation: “In this fast-paced, high-tech era, there is a growing interest in returning to nature and a more relaxed pace of life. The company’s pre-engineered building technique moved construction indoors into a new state-of-the-art, 110,000-square-foot manufacturing facility utilizing a quality-controlled assembly line environment.” Unlike on-site or kit-construction methods, Blue Ridge Log Cabins has control over both quality of materials and construction procedures.
Knowledgeable Log Home Shoppers
Research by Synergy Point, an independent survey company, revealed 88% of Blue Ridge Log Cabin buyers researched the competition before deciding on buying a Blue Ridge Log Cabin. The same third party research identified that ‘Quality of the Home’, ‘Ease of Buying’, ‘High Value’, and ‘Less Time’ were the major factors log home shoppers chose Blue Ridge Log Cabins. Findings also uncovered that more than 90% of Blue Ridge Log Cabin owners refer new customers to the company.
Long Distance Buyers
The New York Times published an article stressing the fulfillment of log home buyer’s, Greg and Linda Corless. The newspaper reported about the couple from Altamonte Springs, Florida who purchased a lot in North Carolina and were looking for an easy way to oversee the building of their log cabin. Like many other out-of-state buyers, the Corless’s chose Blue Ridge Log Cabins mainly due to the less stress and headaches in trying to oversee their home construction from living nine hours away. The article highlighted the customers’ decision by the comment, “All we had to do was hire a contractor to prepare the site and connect the electricity and plumbing.”
National Recognition
In 2006, after a significant amount of research into the company, HGTV contacted Blue Ridge Log Cabins. The popular television network stated they were going to create a new television series titled, “Amazing Log Homes”, and they wanted to highlight Blue Ridge Log Cabins in a premiere episode. After the first airing, HGTV stated it was one of the most requested episode they have ever produced. The success of the show, which continues to air today, emphasizes Blue Ridge Log Cabins’ ability to build high-quality log homes at affordable prices.
Seeing is Believing
Shopper responses to Blue Ridge Log Cabin on-site seminars are significant: “Seeing and being able to talk to Chip Smith and other company people set our mind at rest.” “There is no more apprehension of the quality as compared to other methods we’ve explored.” “You can see the pride everyone takes in the product and the process.” “The best we’ve found in more than two years of research.”
Financing Benefit
Most conventional log home builders and log-kit producers are able to obtain only 70% loan-to-value conventional mortgages for their buyers. With Blue Ridge Log Cabins’ financial strength, quality systems’ production methods, and homeowner satisfaction ratings, a nationwide lender extended Blue Ridge Log Cabin customers the opportunity to qualify for 95% home loans. Blue Ridge Log Cabins is the only builder whose buyers are offered up to 95% mortgages.
